strange dimmer/od switch problem

i installed an aftermarket head unit and amp bypass in my x yesterday. Ran into some troubles with the power locks not working, but that ended up just being a blown fuse under the hood.

Now im having some dimmer issues.

With my headlights off (and automatic lighting off) everything works fine.
With the running lights on, or headlights on or automatic lights turning them on if i have the dimmer switch over 1/2 way my digital displays for my message center and climate control both turn off and the digital overhead temperature/compass display goes very very dim, but still works.

So If i limit the dimmer switch to half way, all digital displays work perfectly.

Now the curveball.

This only happens with the od switch off. With my headlights on the od off illumination no longer works in my dash but the switch is still functional as I can hear, feel and see on the tach. If I drive with od off and my headlights on all displays work fine.

Any thoughts?

ended up being a bad connection at the dimmer switch.
