2010 Ford Explorer V6 Fall River Ma...
Year, Model & Trim Level
2002 Mercury Mountaineer
since moving up to mass from too Hot Florida.
I since had to get my 2002 explorer my 1998 windstar and today my 1995 explorer inspected. Yeah i was putting the old explorer off.
Almost didn;t pass, actually the guy said he thought it didn;t pass iuntil the machine printed the sticker out.

he had to hook it up to the machine and hold the idle between say 2250 and 3500 for 45 seconds it took him 10 times it would not keep a steady idle kept surging up and then down up and down and it isn;t that noticible to me till now.

It is a 1995 so i can not hook up my OBD2 scanner since it is OBD1 right???
Have had the exporer for about 3 years and only pproblem was fuel pump, but like 2 years ago the check engine light was on steady and resetting it would not keep it off, so stupid me had to change the cluster cause my speedo died so i pulled the chekc engine light to never be seen of again...

now i need to know how to get codes out of a 1995?
is there a tester i can buy?

U can get the codes off a '95 using a paperclip... Cheap code scanner or voltmeter too.

using a paperclip how..
do not have a cheap voltmeter have expensive one...

do you mean one with a needle ...

tried autozone and they said sorry they can't

guess it was a stupid thing to pull teh check engine bulb.

that's the worse thing you ever did to it. Light came on cause O2 sensor got screwed-up. That's why you can't hold it steady... since the O2 sensor doesn't send data to your truck's computer mixture of air and fuel is allover the place. Replace the O2 sensors and replace the lightbulb... should work.

BTW - I had that same thing once sugested by a professional mechanic (removing the light bulb)... never did I visit his shop again...

Search for how to pul codes on obd-I and you should find threads detailing how to do it. The OBD-I is simple. When at autozone, coulda picked up a $15 code reader for it. They said no because they only read OBD-II codes....
