Wednesday afternoon I tried to pull away from my parking space on flat ground and I had no forward and no reverse. My transmission is original, it has received three fluid changes over the years, and I have owned it since new.
Trans has been a little sloppy on the 2-3 shift and reverse will shudder and slip if I give it more than a tiny bit of gas for the past few years.
So I tried this:
I gave it enough gas to get about 2,000rpm, still no forward or reverse. Then for the hell of it, I tried 4LOW. Initially no difference, but when I brought it back up to 2,000 again, it suddenly started driving. I switch back to the normal automatic high range, and the vehicle continue to drive normally forward and reverse and has been fine ever since for at least 50miles.
It almost felt like I had it in Drive with the parking brake on, holding 2,000 rpm and then suddenly releasing the brake, but that wasn’t the case
Any thoughts?
