Hey Everyone...Lately, my '95 has been making a squeaking sound when going over bumps in the road. From the inside, it's most noticable when going at a low speed (pulling into a driveway, for instance, where the bump going into the driveway will cause the body to rock), and sounds muffled. While moving, say 45-50 mph with the windows open, you hear the squeak quite loudly with every bump of the road. I was wondering if this is a sure sign of needing new shocks, or possibly something else... I bought the truck used, and I don't know if the previous owner ever did shocks or not. Also, I'm doing a TT/Shackle/AAL lift in the coming month...so, should I just wait and do everything all at once? I see the Ranchos get good reviews...any suggestions are more than welcome........THANKS!

Where does it seem to be coming from?

It definately sounds isolated to the front--both sides. With the windows down, over a bumpy road, it sounds like a 1985 rack-body pickup. BTW, in doing the lift, do I have to make any special exceptions with the shocks I choose? (ie: length, etc.) Thanks!

I tried one other thing...while parked, I stood on the passenger side and rocked the truck back and forth...and heard the noise coming from the passenger side wheel well. When I rocked it from the drivers side, I didn't hear anything from the drivers side wheel well...only the pass side.

43 views and nothing? Anyone out there with squeaky front susp?

I have a 98 XLT AWD and I had this squeaking problem with my front end also. I would notice it when going over bumps or pulling into my driveway. I changed my front shocks and the squeak (and groan) vanished. You may also want to have a lube job also. It couldn't hurt.

I have a very similar problem. Not only do I get that clunking sound when going over bumbs (sometimes), but also when making right turns only (sure thing every time). It also seems to come from the front passenger side, but I can decide whether it is the sway bay end link(might not be tight enough, meaning sway bar has some play) or the torsion bar...
Any ideas...?

Good night from Germany

YES

That's right---I forgot to mention the groaning. I had a feeling it might be the shocks...I'm planning on doing them anyway...but yeah, at parking lot speed if I crank the wheel to turn into a spot, I get a groaning too. Thanks!!!!!!!!! I will look into these problems. Any chance it could be bushings, etc?

Bushings. Change them. It's a cheap enough project to do just to rule it out even if that doesn't cure it. You'll need them eventually anyway.

check swaybar endlinks, my moms 96 had a recall on them, maybe the problem wsa never fixed, or is still existant... check the shocks, and also it maybe the torsion bars jumping around in hteir sockets....

sounds like Mine

I had the same thing I took it to my mechanic changed the steering rack and it all stopped

How much does something like that cost? It sounds like big bucks.

The part was around 250 i think labor was about the same They have to do alinement also.
