Strange starter problem

My daughters boyfriend recently bought a '99 2 door explorer. He had to replace the starter. A couple of days later, he had a cd player installed. When he turns the CD player on, THE STARTER ENGAGES. Darndest thing I've ever seen! When he has the key turned to accessory, and turns the CD player on, it starts! I don't have a clue what could be causing this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Probably has nothing to do with the starter.

It sounds like it was hooked up wrong at the ignition harness on the bottom of the steering column. Look under there and see if maybe the shop that was installing ran the lead for the radio wrong.

Weird problem though.
