Not sure what actually going bad but when I am driving on the highway and suddenly need to slow down or hit the breaks my explorer starts sounding like the 4 wheel drive is engaging in the front
and then pulls to the right almost like a wheel bearing is going out...it then can go away if I
turn the wheel to the left...it doesnt do this on slower 2 lane blacktop roads though?
not sure whats going on?
any help is appreciated.

If you have a bad bearing, I suppose a sudden slow down could trick the 4wd drive into gear if the sensor isn't reading correctly.
Otherwise, the clunk at decel. sounds like the trans solenoid pack.
Don't know about the pulling.

A little more diagnosis and it seems it does this when just letting off the gas....
