Stripped Caliper Guide Pin

I stripped a caliper mounting pin on the rear caliper today. Does anyone have any tips on how to get this thing off so I can change it out with a new one?

Dammit, I was using a new 10mm wrench and it still stripped the head off the bolt! I barely put any pressure behind it when I tightened it! I hate when ****z like this happens! It always turns into a fiasco for me!

Any help is appreciated!

Try using a pair of "Vice Grip Pliers" and clamp it on to the head of the caliper bolt and see if you can get it to back out.
Edit: I just re-read your post not quite sure what you meant. Did you break the head of the bolt off or just round off or strip the head of the caliper bolt? If you broke the bolt head off, you can try drilling out the center of caliper bolt with a small drill bit (not sure if it is possible to do with a caliper bolt) and use an "easy out" bit to try and back it out.
 






I rounded off the head. I ordered a stripped bolt socket removal kit or whatever it's called. :-) I figured I'd better go at this with the best option.

Kroil is the best penetrating oil I have used. Get a can of that, or PB Blaster if you have to settle, and spray it down to help loosen things up before going at it. If you have to, a torch on the caliper bracket can help expand that metal threads and loosen it up a bit more.
 






Another technique is to grind a small slot in the end of the bolt and use a hammer impact driver to get it out. If you get it to move a little then probably you can use a vise grip on it to get it out.
 






Vice grips are the way to go here. Nice and tight, and go slow with the pressure when you start turning. If you just installed the bolt, it should come right out. If not, the penetrating oil and some heat will make it easier. And like Exproblems said, if all fails, invest in a set of easy out bits. They're like magic. A good investment if you will be working with old parts a lot.
