Stuck in 4 Lo! help!

I have a 96 explorer 4.0 4wd and its stuck in 4 low. i was making sure it still worked and now its f**** stuck

what do i do

is this common?

i have 174 k miles but mechanically its in good shape

Hey dude, shot in the dark here, if your transfer case has an electric motor mounted to it to shift it from 2H to 4H etc etc (like my '93 does), remove it and turn the mechanism yourself to 2H. That'll get you going anyhow.

yes it does. If that doesnt work, try disconnecting the battery for about a half hour or so, that worked for me.
