Stuck In 4lo-ish

Whats up guys, new guy here, ive been searching this site all day about my problem, and havent gotten a answer that pertains to my exact situation. I have a 91 Explorer XL, Auto hubs, Electronic transfer case engage. After the blizzard we got up here a few days ago, i was pulling a newer cadillac out of my yard in 4lo, after i was done, i thought it was back in 2hi but i guess it was not. and now its currently stuck in 4lo with the front hubs randomly locking up on me and creating one hell of a bang. Ive tested the 4wd switches, the lights, every fuse in the truck, the 4x4 computer blinked for me, and i still have nothing. from the research i gathered the usual cause of these problems is the shift motor, I just want to make sure its that before i go ripping into it. Oh and I can here the solenoid engaging as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated thank you

Chances are, shift motor. You should be able to verify this by removing the shift motor, grabbing the shift input shaft and rotating it to the 2Hi position manually (while in neutral). If you can shift the case manually and solve the issue, the shift motor is likely to blame.
