hey guys,
I have a 1998 ford explorer xlt with the cd/casset player stock. I just got done putting in a aftermarket deck and am now looking to hook up my alpine amplifier and subs. 12v battery cable back to the amp, check. Ground cable for amp, check. REM/power antenna, now thats where i come accross my problem. I recently purchased a wire harness that plugs right into the factory wiring and everything lined up perfectly except when it came to this damn power antenna wire. In most cases that i have seen over the years its a blue wire and that is the case for this wire comming out of the back of the aftermarket deck. Is this the wire i run to the amplifier or is it a wire comming from my factory wiring? If so how do i go about finding this wire? Is it possible to make your own or an alternative route for turning on and off the amp. Also my pioneer deck has a red and white plug for RCA cables. does this mean i can only run one sub? any advice would be greatly appriciated. thanks guys

use the remote wire comming of the new head unit, and yes it should be blue.

or if it has a blue and a blue/white stripe use the blue/white

so it has nothing to do with the factory wiring only the blue wire comming from the aftermarket deck?

correct. that wire will output 12v when the radio is on thus turning on the amp

The RCA jacks run to the Amp, and you will run the subs from the amp. I have one set of jacks, and one amp, but two 10" subs.

yeah I got it all workin, my alpine amp and 2 10' punch subs. thanks for the advice guys. it sounds pretty good
