- 1995 Ford Explorer
Hello.
I have a problem and was hoping to get feedback from folks more knowledgable than me.
I have a stock 1995 Explorer. Within the past year it has developed an idle issue. From a cold start, idles fine, but when you go to move and press the gas it has a momentary hesitation/stumble. It is worse on warm days or after the vehicle has been driven a long way. It is so bad on a hot day that the vehicle will die. It will start right back up though. It will even do this at a stop light or stop sign. It will also do it if I am moving, for instance the other day as i pulled off the main road into my driveway and was just sort of coasting and it just died. Restarted instantly and finished pulling into my driveway. When it is really warm or hot it will just drop out while idling with no press of the gas pedal. It has gotten bad enough that you literally have to hold down the gas pedal a little when at a stop sign. So one foot on the gas and one on the brake to keep the idle up high enough.
I have replaced the IAC. I have cleaned the MAF. Until recently there was no check engine light, but within the past couple of months the check engine light comes on. It seems to come on after the vehicle has been started and pretty much right after touching the gas and causing the stumble.
With KOEO test i get code 335 (EGR Voltage out of range)
With Engine Running i get code 332 (EGR valve not opening)
After doing some research of these codes online and on this forum, i think perhaps i have a bad DPFE Sensor (wich could account for the 335 with the engine off)
I guess my main question is: would the DPFE or the EGR account for my strange stumble/idle issues? It seems like people with a bad DPFE or EGR problems are not expeiriencing similar problems to mine. So is it a coincidence and maybe the stumble is caused by something else?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Much thanks to everyone on here that helps with issues like this. The search funtion has helped me many times.
Thank you
