Stupid question: The "Big 3"??

A 3.0 aerostar has no alternator/generator...? Then again now that I think about it, I've only seen 4.0 aerostars.

Again, I'm not in on this e-c0ck measuring contest, just wondered.

Still how do I upgrade the alt to battery on an aerostar with a 3.0 and a 88-91 Ford panther platform with a 5.0. because it is impossible. Hence NO ALT to battery big 3 but I can do the other big 3 on any car.

BTW: 2002 USACi World champion 0-300 pro basic ( I've got the throphy to prove it, Wanna picture of it?)

Plus I never claimed I could spell correctly all the time.

in all honestly your world title doesnt mean a whole lot as far as your personal knowledge. Ive known some dumbasses to get lucky and take worlds...especially in sq. No offense

some alternators have the charging wire coming out of a clip in harness so its pretty difficult to upgrade. I think some older VWs are also this way

None taken, but most of the idiots who do take world finals are check book people not DIYers. Just write a check and have it done. SQ is harder than SPL, but what is really had getting it to be loud and yet sound good, without being able to change anything in the lanes. IASCA till the mid 90s.

i definitely wouldnt say sq is harder than spl...two different worlds...not compareable

that is very arguable both ways. Depends on class, lower classes both are easy. For spl you jsut slap some loud sub sin a ported box, and sq you just thrown some good components in and put some TA on em. But as you get up in harder classes. For SPL where people are getting into the 160's and up, it takes a lot of work just preparing the car, box building etc. But for SQ there is a lot to it as well. Aiming, staging, TA, x-overs. Both of them are very complex and not easy to do.

I'm talking about where people are hitting sub 150. and they do it with like 4 15's.

What are you trying to say! I had six 12's from mtx hitting 152. But the box was not custom. It was just a generic box for 6-12's. I could have hit harder if I was not a pussy and turned it up. I did not want to blow anything. Daily driver ya know?

did you ever figure out what kind of mic that 152 was on?

Yeah I find a 152 with 6 mtx 12's in a just plain ported box hard to beleive on the TL, maybe an old AC-180 or some other mic though.

depending on what vehicle you use....its often easier to get higher numbers with less subs due to the smaller boxes and being able to try different firing angles/directions.

im currently running 2 18s in an 84 s10 blazer which is significantly smaller than an explorer cargo area and even with 3.5 cubes per 18 ive got hardly anywhere to move the box to see what the setup likes best. id be better off with 2 12s

It was in a sealed box and not a ported one. I did not figure out the mic. I will call the guy later and try to find out. I have to find his number. It might be a week or so before I can call him.
