i got a new headunit for my explorer. its a sony xplod head unit. dont remember wat kind. but any ways. when i brought it to a shop to install they installed it and now my stock subs dont work. Any body have any suggestions to help fix this problem? by the way. i had the premium audio on my car. thanks

they might've bypassed or not connected the stock subwoofer amp.

earlier explorers with the premium sound had two factory amps (full range and subwoofer). most people bypass the factory full range amp to get the best sound quality when installing a new headunit. yours (a 1998) has the full range amp built into the headunit, and a seperate subwoofer amp. when they hooked up the new headunit, maybe they figured it was the stock full range amp and decided not to use it... or maybe they were just lazy... or maybe they just forgot...

either way, go back and tell them that they have to hook up everything correctly so the subwoofer works.

i hope that's the problem, and they didn't burn out your factory sub amp (it's been known to happen by inexperienced or careless installers).

good luck
