I saw someone who had a tahoe and he had a 10" sub in each rear door. My question is has anyone ever installed subs in the rear tailgate of an explorer? How did it sound?

If not, what are your opinions of doing so. I was thinking of glassing a seperate box on each side of the tailgate and putting a 10" in each one.

All my past setups had a huge bandpass box, but I really don't want to tie up my cargo space. My wife has the 10" Rockford box in the side panel of her X but I want 2 10" not just one.

Thanks
Rich

It's been discussed many times before on this site. The consensus is that it's not a great idea.

1) the tailgate and tailgate shocks would have to support it when open
2) there actually isn't that much room
3) vibration is a major problem

Those are just 3 concerns, there are many other ones, including wire routing and more.

But if you want to try it, more power to ya!

Well as for the space I was thinking about giving those Earthquake SWS subs a chance. They have a very shallow depth and from what I hear don't weigh to much.

Wire routing I don't think would be an issue as long as the Amp was not on the door as well. just take them the same route as all the other wires.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I'll just go with a sigle 10" over on the side like most people.
