Ok...some of you probably read my post from a few days ago about my CV boot problem...well, the situation is a little more serious than that (but not too much)

It turns out that when I got the boot replaced (4/01 for $90) they used the wrong boot!! The factory outer boot has approx. 7 "accordians" (humps) in it while the replacement one the garage put on only has 3...as it turns out, there is no way in hell that this boot EVER fit right. I tried to hose clamp it last night and I can't even get it the reach the groove (w/ the wheel straight...ie shortest distance)...it's wwwaaaayyyy too short. I know the douchebag who installed it could tell that it was wrong and just used it anyway...now for my question

It goes w/out saying that I'm going into that place and demanding retribution...do you think I'll be pushing it to demand replacement of the entire axle shaft...it's not bad (yet), but I have put approx 7500 miles on it (unknowingly) w/ no boot?
FYI...I still have the receipt w/ the part #s and the mechanic's name
:shoot:

Well.................its a tricky situation, you would have to prove there is dammage. And if the garage is as bad as you say, it will take a lawyer to get anything done. Now the question is...........is it worth it. If the work was done wrong, and you know it, take it to the dealer, have them do it right, then take the bill to the first place for reembursment. If they say no. Take them to court.

you might as well go there all pissed off (hopefully in front of other customers). see what happens. if you're not happy, do what he said and get it done right somwhere else. then get the money for the repair.

Alright here you go,
Go back to them and talk to them first and see if they will replace the work they screwed up. If the axle is not bad they are not liable to fix it. But they are liable for putting on the wrong part. If they refuse then get angry and threaten a lawyer and then they will fix it. Never go to a dealer unless you need a part that you can not get a pic n' save. Dealers dont always fix things right plus they over charge (Just my opinion).

MORE HELP PLEASE!!!

Some of you may remember my origional question...if not:

Dead Link Removed

...so here's where I stand...I went in w/ the receipt in hand and they told me they couldn't do anything for me. It seems that the part # was correct and it had been well over a year so there was nothing they could do. I make about 6 calls to parts stores until I finally locate a replacement boot in stock...go to NAPA, open the box...same boot the garage put on!! The counter guy told me they sell a ton of 'em and never had a return/complaint. I opted not to buy and go home to make the one on it work...I got it clamped on, but it's stretched to the MAX w/ the wheels straight!! Anyone else change the boot out w/ an aftermarket and it's too short??? or am I just nuckin' futs? It seems like the replacement boot is about 4 inches too short (or at least has 4 inches less expandability than the factory boot)...any experiences you can tell me about will be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric
