hey im looking at a set of supper swamper tires for my 1998 5.0 AWD explorer. i got a 2.5 inch lift and i probably cant fit a 33. i was wondering if i would be buying traction beyond my vehicle's capibality. would i be wasteing money?

street life is not an issue because i run a seperate tire for pavement.

P.S.

You will have to do quite a bit of trimming to get a 33" tire to fit. Especialy with the side lugs on the Super Swampers.

What size are your pavement tires?

If you realy want the Super Swamper go with a 31" tire unless you are willing to trim then go for the 33".

At that size, I'd say save your money and buy a set of BFG Mud Terrains (MT) or the likes (Pro-Comp makes almost the same exact tire).

what kind of terrain will they be used in off road?
To me if you are buying off road tires, the use of the truck will determine what type of tires to get.
Also if you drive to and from the trail consider something else, the SS will wear down very quickly and it can be like throwing $$$ away

like i said..i cant and dont want to try to fit a 33.... a 32 at !!MOST!!
the tires will be used for driving to the trail but usualy it aint more that 50 miles one way.

i use the truck for mud bogging (about hub height some times tire height)

light duty rock crawling (rocks about 5-6 inches in diameter)

hilll climbing (about 35 - 45 degrees)

and then basic tral stuff

for my street tires im gona get some BFG all terain in 31X10.5R15

you could run swampers... they would be great for mud bogging but most of the time a street friendly mud terrain ( bfg, pro comp, goodyear, kumhos( i love mine) will perform efficiently on the trail and you can get about 30 to 40 thousand miles out of them so you can tun them all the time. super swampers are awesome in just straight mud its really all up to you
