Supercharged 4.0L SOHC

Hey Bones, I have some pics but none of the interior. I will take some this weekend and post em. Have you looked at rockauto.com for the harness? Not sure if its there but they have a nice site.

Any Updates?

The M62 blower is good for 7-8 psi of boost. The stock engine is more favorable to 5.5 psi of boost. The smaller blower actualy spools up faster than the M90. The M90 will not fit under the hood of an Explorer, plain & simple. Since high boost is not possible, the M62 unit works well for the application. We designed this kit to work on a stock engine and stock transmission. If you push the 300 horsepower range, longevity will be an issue. We engineered this kit to offer consistant power increase for reliable dailey driving. We include all of the required upgrades like 30 psi fuel injectors, high pressure fuel pump, 80mm mass air sensor and a custom Apten computer chip. We do all the tuning work and include all of the parts required for the installation. We never said this kit has no potential for upgrades. If you built a stout bottom end with ported heads and special head gaskets ($$$), you could run more boost. You could also run 42 psi injectors and a 80mm mass air sensor. You would have to beef up the trans with different valves bodies and a tweeked computer program.

The trans is definitely the weakest point. That is why our kit is a rational street kit. It is still the easiest way to add 70 rwhp and still have a smooth driving, smog legal, reliable vehicle.

Damn John... The more you describe this kit the more appealing it gets.

Since this thread isnt good for much else, I'm gonna ask a question about it. You say you do all the tuning. Does that mean the computer chip will take care of all issues and make it run right out of the box or will time still need to be spent on a dyno?

Also, how many deposits have you received on this kit?

I'm with John on everything except this. You don't need special head gaskets if you build a better lower end. What you'd do is to get pistons with a large dish to lower the compression ratio. The stock head gaskets will work just fine. I've had my hands on 3 SOHC's now in which the compression ratio was taken down to right around 8:1 and this really helps out with the supercharging.

Mainly though his kit is designed for Joe Public, not even 5% of the market will ever tear into their bottom ends so this kit is designed to work for everyone and I'm totally behind it.

Later Doug904.

I'm 90% sold on this kit. I have been weighing out my options on my 97 SOHC since it will be paid off in 8 months. I was thinking 5.0 swap but this looks good to me, and would net a few more ponies. Polished piping? I know, I know.. it's all for show but under the hood just isn't pretty to me yet.

Keep up the killer work. I can't wait to be blown again.. I miss my turbo :(

I would take you word on the head gasket Doug. As you know, our goal is to not take the engine apart at all. Our kit is indeed intended for Joe Public. He wants more power for everyday driving. That is what our kit delivers. We have done the tuning for you. Brian from Apten has spent time with one our supercharged vehicles on his dyno in St. Louis. We have installed his X-Charger Chip on a few test vehicles with good results.

There are always ways customize your engine compartment. Installing the X-Charger by itself with improves the looks 100%. We have designed our set up to work with the stock inlet hose. We are looking for a stock factory look. You could always fabricate a chrome tube from a Mac Intake or similar kit.

We currently have about twenty deposits on the kit, including orders from England and New Zealand! A few of these kits are prepaid. We also have over one hundred customers on a waiting list that we will contact once we are ready to ship the kits. Once we are ready to go, there will be no shortage of these kits. But the folks with deposits will get their's first.

By the way, we are also expecting a few magazine articles. The first one will probably be in Truckin Magazine featuring a blue Ranger.

Good lord that is pretty. I can't wait to see some hard numbers for 0-60 improvements and overall driveability,

Great work!
