Hey guys, I had installed a superchip in January, it worked fine for about a week then it kept stalling. I removed the chip, contacted Superchip and was mailed a new chip. I installed the new chip (taped it in securely and reset the computer) now it hesitates on acceleration and shuts the engine off at 45-50mph. Boy talk about distressing. This is really scary not knowing when this will occur. Yes I've been using 93 octane. I removed the chip and everything is fine. Waiting for feedback from Superchip. Anyone else have this happen with a Superchip? Thanks for any feedback.

Did you have any upgrades/recalls. Maybe the code should be different.

Surer Chip Problems

I Just Installed A Super Chip Yesterday. When I Put Just The Chip On It Wouldn't Start, So I Called Super Chip. They Told Me To Solder A Couple Of Jumpers. I Did That, And It Would Start, But Was Hard And Would Die And Backfire Alot, Especially If I Excellerated Fast And It Wouldn't Go Over 45 MPH. So I Took The Jumpers And The Chip Off And It Ran Fine. I Called Around And Found A Local Place That Has Installed Them And Had That Problem. He Asked Me What Color The Tabs Were Where The Chip Plugged On. I Told Him Silver. He Said You Need To Clean Them Until They Were Copper Colored. I Just Got Done Cleaning Them And Reinstalling Just The Chip, And It Runs Perfect. I Am Only Running 87 Octane. Hope This Helps.

Did you clean the contacts the first time? There is a film of grease on them for protection. It's in the instructions.

Yes But They Only Tell You To Clean Them Until They Are Silver.

OK, so here's my delemma sp? I got a KKM, Ford headers, and a true dual exhaust. I had the Ford ECU recall/update completed and Superchips gave me a chip for my new code. Why does my check enging light come on when I put the chip in? Does anybody else have a similar problem with a similar mod set-up? I think there was a post where a mustang was having a similar problem and they by-passed the problem somehow. ??? Am I able to test the truck somehow to see if I'm getting my gains even though the light is on? Any opinions??? Thanks

My first step would be to read the codes and see what the Check Engine light is saying. If it is something like a "computer mismatch" (if there is such a thing) error then I would be getting ahold of Superchips again.

I've had it to the dealer a couple times. Without the chip they don't get much. With the chip, it's gets real confusing. What they are able to read has some stuff about the heater I think. I have the paperwork at home, but that road has already been travelled
