Add one more component to the long list of Superlift parts that have failed on me.

I just thought I'd warn those of you with the SuperRunner steering about a failure that I had this weekend. When this happened I had no steering at all. I was extremely lucky that this broke while creeping along on a trail and not while driving at highway speeds.

The idler arm bracket broke off of the crossmember mount. The scary thing is that it was the welds that broke. On closer examination the one weld had been broken for a very long time and the bracket was only being held together by the one remaining weld that had almost zero penetration. This remaining weld failed with a fairly loud bang and I was left without steering.

A trail fix was made by modifying a Cherokee linkage to accept one of my tie rods. This allowed me to get back to camp. I then bought a stock steering linkage from a nearby junk yard. I will be leaving the stock steering in there as I honestly don't notice any bump steer and my steering actually feels better than with the Superlift steering.

I was just planning on buying the Superrunner steering kit tomorrow with my 5.5 lift. A lot of people on this board have said it's a mod definately worth the price. I'm guessing you don't think it is. Is the bumpsteer really not noticable? 'Cause I can certainly find another use for the money.:)

I'm not sure the superruner is worth it either? One of the reasons for me getting it was I was told it would make steering more stable and make it easier to align, well its still a ***** to align and it doesn't have very stable steering, so go figure! :).

I was told the same thing Matt. Mine worked OK for awhile but now something is flexing too much. After hearing what happend to Paul I think I'm going to take a real close look at the bracket for the idler arm.

Wow! Paul, and now Matt think it's not worth the money. Anybody else care to chime in, poistive or negative about this mod? Please. I'm on the cusp of buying one of these. Thanks.

I say hold off buying it for now. See how it feels with the stock steering before you make your decision.

i bought it with mine..... and i didnt like it at all... and it didnt allign worth a damn with it on... .i put all the stock back on with the drop pitman arm and just got dual skyjacker steering stabelizers.... works 100 times better.... im with paul and matt.... it sucks.

I have wheeled for a few years now with just the stock stuff. It works just fine for me!

I'm gonna vote the other way. I love mine superrunner steering. It made a night and day difference in the way the truck drove. It took away every bit of the wander and bumpsteer. I don't run a steering stabilizer any more and there is no kickback with the 35's. I am going to inspect my welds, just to make sure.

I like it!

I've noticed improved steering with the SRS, it elliminated the bump steer and shimmy. Yes, I will check mine as well.
