For those of you who have surface mounted their tweeters, what kind of adhesive/tape did you use to get them to stick?? I have tried everything I can think of, mounting tape, double sided, silicone, hot glue.. nothing will stick!! i made sure the plastic is clean and what not, it just wont stick!!

I hate to use somthing like epoxy, or super glue, because i dont really want to ruin the plastic underneath, but is that my only option??

thx

I used a nut and bolt because the back of my tweet had a threaded hole. If I take them off I can cover the hole w/ stock color plastic trim fastners (from dealer).

Also something goofy that worked for me was to use this lightweight crayola modeling foam (stole from my kids) to go between the tweet and the door to get just the right angle. I painted the foam black once it hardened.

hmm. maybe i'll just have to do that.. i would really love to avoid drilling holes tho.. anyone else do anything different?

Don't go for surface mount then

You could put them in the door panels you know? On my 95 Explorer there was plenty of room to fit them in using the surface mount cups mounted flush to the door. Used some self tappers and it worked like a charm. Running the wires into the door panels was a pain in the arse though. On the drivers side doors there were two holes either side of the plastic wire connector thing that I snuck wires into. This isn't for the impatient though.. hours..
