I've been having this problem with my 06 EB explorer with the 3V V8. When I come to a stop the idle will get down to around 500rpms and it will start to make a humming noise. The idle will jump up and down until I give it gas. When taking off the light sometimes when I push down the go pedal the truck will not move and the after about a second an a half it will violently kick it and the truck will take off hard. I took it onto the dealer because I have the extended powertrain warranty and they told me the throttle body was shot and that it was not covered under warranty and they wanted $600 to fix it. I told them no way.

I removed and cleaned the TB and it did nothing for it so I'm thinking the electronics are messed on it. Could the TPS sensor have gone bad or something? I was looking at the zabteck performance TB. Are they worth the upgrade? I believe it's also cheaper the a factory replacement

I was going to suggest the two items you mentioned. I will say that the throttle body cleaning needs to be thorough for it to really work, including the edge of the butterfly valve...I even took a wooden toothpick and scraped the edge....make sure everything is cleaned like new....and yea, maybe go ahead a replace the TPS.

Two weeks ago removed the TB from the truck and sprayed it with TB cleaner and used a tooth brush on everything to get it as clean as I could and it still doesnt work.

The past two days it has gotten worse it will dip down to 250 rpms and the lights will dim and the truck will almost stall out. he wrench light came on the dash tonight but after I tuned the truck off it cleared it. Tomorrow I'm going to get the codes read to see if anything is there.

Sounds like a vacuum leak of some sort to me but that's not a Ford 3V V8 specific diagnosis. Engine in my play car is notorious for developing hard to find vacuum leaks and those are the symptoms it typically exhibits... is it more prone to a rough idle in the cold?
