I'm a owner of a '92 XLT. I'm also only 17 and extremely interested in off-roading. My explorer has 29" tires the largest I can fit with the stock suspension. I am in the search of a 2" to 3" suspension lift to fit larger tires. I AM WONDERING WHERE I CAN FIND THE BEST LIFT FOR THE MONEY. If you could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks -Fritz92.

best lift for the $$$ and for serious off roading?

Search for solid axle swap or SAS

Then you can look into all the TTB drop bracket kits:
James Duff
Skyjacker
Superlift
Tough Country

Or you can look into custom TTB beam kits:
Autofab
Mcneil (Perry's fab and Fiber)
Camburg

there are others but those are most popular.

You can run 31" tires on your truck with slight rubbing, but every truck and every 31" tire is different, so there is no one answer for your question. 30" tires would be safe.

there are about 14 bagillion lifted Gen I (91-94) Explorer's on this site from the simple F-150 spring seat and shackle 2" lift to long travel 5 link D44 conversions (SAS)

Search and read for hours.

I would do the f150/shackle lift for about 2"s. Put some 31" tires on it, and save up for a locker for the rear. That should be MORE than enough to get you into trouble lol

Thanks, will the F-150 seats get me 2" up front?

1-5/8" actually.

yeah close enough...if you really want you can shim the spacers up with washers, tacked together. You'd just need a longer stud to bolt the seat to.

I forgot to ask what year of F-150 seats, or does it matter? -appreciating your guys' help and looking forward to getting in trouble CodePoet :)

mid 90's 2wd
