I recently bought a 96 explorer. It is in great shape. It is just slammed to the ground. And I can not figure out how to get it back to stock. It has shocks but no springs. I am not sure what I am looking for to determine the way it was dropped. And the person I got it from has no idea. May be a dumb question but any help will be great.

Shocks but no springs = not possible! There are leafs in the rear. Without them the axel would have no support and be undriveable. Its a spring-under-axle set up. Vast majority of these are simply blocked. Take the blocks out and rear will be back to normal height. Front end is torsion bars. Turning the adjustment bolts will bring it back up. Very likely camber adjusters were installed, so once you have the front end back to normal height you will need to reset the camber (normal part of an alignment).

^ that, look up torsion twist on teh forums, basically its just opposite of a lift twist. rear end prob just has spacer blocks on the spring mounts.
