2005 Ford Explorer
Gents,

I have a 2005 Ford Explorer with the stock radio. I do not have steering wheel controls or a six disc changer. I would like to have an MP3 port for external media sources.

Is there a Explorer model or Mountaineer model with a radio that would plug directly into my set up and have the MP3 jack? I did a little Google searching and found threads on installing aftermarket radios, as well as aftermarket systems that disable the CD player and allow for the playing of MP3s, but I would prefer to simply find a newer stock system that meets my needs. Is this possible?

Go to Crutchfield.com and get a nice aftermarket.

I don't think so. Installing aftermarket decks is easier than most folks think. Buy the deck you want, a wiring harness, and a dash kit and go to work. If you're really not sure about doing it yourself, price check a couple of local shops to have it done.

I agree with both responses...I went to Crutchfield online and ordered a JVC with new harness and installation kit, did a little soldering, and it was basically plug and play.

Good Youtube video on the process by a guy who has a 2002.

Good luck.
