I brought my May 2011 build date EX in for the Sync update and asked to add DRL option. No problem, except the tech said that the option was not available on all models? Mine is LTD with 302 option, HID lights. Now parking lights light when ignition is on. Very small insurance discount.

How much did they charge to turn DRL on

Unfortunately on the new Ex the DRL is on the parking lights instead of headlights. No discount here in Canada. Only discount I get is 5% off yearly premium for using Winter tires. On my Limited, the DRL is not active in 'Park'. They only come on when you put vehicle in gear.

Much discussion on 2011 Explorer Modification forum re DRL. It is a simple software switch set on the Body Control Module... OF ALL FORDS... It is in the Exterior Lights section... A selection for DRL, then in that, one switch to activate and a second switch to tell the vehicle which light set. Takes all of 5 minutes. Should be able to avoid the minimum attach the tech's computer cost, especially if you are at the initial buying stage and insist on it. DRL are only on when the vehicle is in any gear selection other than PARK. in PARK they are off.

No charge, probably because they had their computer already on doing the Sync update. BTW, alot of settings were lost during the update, and now Sync does not recognize my wife's Iphone 3G. Sync appears to have kept my phone, but I had to reload my address book. The DRL on/off should be on the DIC as a driver setting!
