Sync3 Navigation question

I have a 2017 Limited Sync3. Here is my question: Is it possible to save an un-used portion of a route when shutting off the vehicle? Say you are following a route and decide to stop at a gas station half way thru the route. How can I get the nav to save the route and pick it up where I left off when I restart the car? Every time I shut the car off, it "forgets" everything, and I have to start over. Help!

Have you tried setting the end point of your route as a 'Destination' and then saving it?

I'll have to verify this but I believe mine saves the information if I go off route and turn off the engine for some reason (ex: to go to a grocery store to pick something up on the way to a destination).
