Has anyone drained their transmission and refilled it with synthetic? If so, does the transmission perform better?

many have

Many forum members have replaced their standard automatic transmission fluid (ATF) with synthetics and are very satisfied. I considered it when I added my transmission cooler and remote filter. However, after doing that my ATF runs very cool and I don't think switching to synthetic is worth the cost. The Mercon V is already semi-synthetic. If your ATF temperature runs high due to no external cooler, towing or off-road then I think switching to full synthetic is worth the cost. If I lived in a very cold area (I used to live in North Dakota) I would switch to full synthetic for its better flow at low temperatures.

I live in Syracuse, NY so the flow factor in winter would help me, although like you said it would be expensive. I think I also have a cooler. The fluid flows in and out of the bottom of the radiator via 2 hoses. I was curious if the transmission shifted any smoother using synthetics. My 03 X used the Mercon V, but my '06 uses Mercon....I'm not sure if it's partly synthetic or not. I'll have to look into that. Thanks.
