Well everyone, my new system is coming along nicely. I have got the component set installed in the kickpanels and mounted, the tweeters are in the doors, and all of the wires and interconnects have been run to the trunk. For the subs, I have the base of the false floor cut out and the support pieces installed, the amp rack has been cut out, sealed, sanded, painted, and clear coated (It looks very nice - mirror-like finish, but will mostly be covered by the amps) and the hardware for the sliders has been mounted to the rack. Tonight I'm cutting the holes for the wires to come through the false floor base, pre-drilling the mounting holes for the capacitor and crossovers, then giving that piece the same finishing procedure as the amp rack. The box for my subs will have the same finishing procedure... It should turn out looking great! I've ordered the carpet to cover the false floor, and the security screws for securing the subs, amps, and hardware. All that is left is some plexiglass and my neons, which are backordered. I hope to still have it all finished by next Friday. I will post pics when it is done.

Allentown huh? Wanna install my system for some cash? :D ..... Let me know where your at I would like to drive over and check out how its coming along.

:) Haha I am actually about 10 miles west of Allentown, in Kuhnsville or Upper Macungie, people call it different things. Where in Philly are you?

I am in Valley Forge 1 hour outside of Philly, let me know if you wanna meet I will drive over and check your X out.

When it is finished I will let you know. Actually, this brings up an interesting point that is somewhat off-topic. I thought that PA did not allow the dark window tinting that you have. Is this true? How much did yours cost? With this big new system in the trunk, I would really like to get my trunk windows done in limo tint, and the rest of the windows very dark as well. My truck is licensed in Illinois, where there is no limit to how much you tint, so I thought maybe I could convince a shop to tint them more than PA laws allow.

160 OR 170 the only windows PA cares about is the front two and the windsheild, its not legal to get them tinted but if the cop sees you with 35% on your front windows he doesnt bother you.... but they will never let you go if you have your windsheild tinted. The guys place is located in Wayne off route 30.... Let me know if your interested and I will get his card.

Wow, that is not bad at all. Did he do a good job?
One other thing... I don't know how familiar you are with the process they went through to tint your windows, but did they have to pull off interior panels? Mine are going to be pretty much unremovable with this stereo in.

I watched him do it, he did a great job no problems at all. He didnt need to take off the panels.

Wow! :D Could you give me his phone number or an address? I think I will call him... Maybe make a trip out there early next week.

yeah im going up there today, and I will go to his shop to get his phone number ( i gotta go back to him to get my middle windows tinted to 20% and the rear glass tinted some). Remind me to send you the number tonight.

Oh... I must have misunderstood your sig. Which windows you have tinted right now, that cost you $160-$170?

yeah, front two, middle two, rear two

I see... I want to get my rear 3 and middle 2 done, and maybe the front two done lightly. Rear 3 would be limo, middle 2 35%.

your rear window that you use to look out of? Limo? Dude...... You dont need to get limo on that one to have it blacked out back there. And It would be inpossible to see out of it at night like it is for me for my two rear side ones.

Good point. I'll have to ask and see what I should get. Maybe check out some samples first.

yeah just send me an e-mail tonight to remind me to give you the number

Well I think it is time to get this thread back on track... Last night, after cutting out the bottom piece of the sub box and pre-drilling all of the holes for distribution blocks, crossovers, cap, etc in the base of the false floor, I noticed an interesting thing: I am making the box the exact width of the space between the panels above the wheel wells in a '94 Sport (52 5/8" for those of you who may be interested :)), but by doing this, it becomes impossible to slide the box straight in or out. I am going to have to do one of two things:

1. Hope that I have enough clearance to angle the box through the area high up in tailgate where it is almost the same width as the space between the interior panels.

2. Take out both front seats, the center console, and both reat seats, and bring the box in through the front doors.

I just have to make sure it will fit somehow! I honestly think I would cry if I poured all this time into building this thing and then couldn't get it in my trunk. Plus I'd feel like a dumba**!

There is a plus side to this though... Once I do get it in and bolted to the floor, short of taking a cordless saw to it, nobody's gonna be able to steal it!!

I finished cutting out enough of the MDF that I was able to get an accurate measurement of just how close I came to hitting my target of giving each of the three subs a chamber with 1.5 cubic feet of air. The final result? I was only off by .05 cubic feet. Each sub is getting 1.45 cubic feet of air. Seeing as how I was only 3.3% off, I don't think it will be a problem. True, 3.3% error would cause problems in other applications, but I'll be fine :D

Back to the cutting, clamping, and countersinking!

Hmmm.... Actually, no. But I can take some. I had planned on just taking pics of the finished product, but if you want pics of what I've got so far, I will check my camera batteries, pick up some new ones if I need them, and post them
