I was wondering if when i added subs to my system if that was the only place where the bass would be coming from? I have my Infinity 5x7's and they putt out a great deal now, but I want to know if i add a sub or 2 if the subs will be adding on to the speakers, or if the speakers now would only pick up higher end frequencies w/ all the lower ones going to the subs only. Thanx

well the speakers have their own specific frequency range, and the subs have their own too. the subs hit lower frequencies, while the speakers have a broader range. having subs makes quite a difference.

Ok, but what if some of the frequnecies overlap? Will the subs and the speakers still hit those frequencies, or only the subs? See if the subs are just adding bass to what I have now I don't need to many subs, but if the subs are replacing the bass I have now I need more. Thanx

I think you're talking about component speakers where you have the tweeters, mid-range, woofer, and sub woofer separate. If you have component speakers then you do not have to worry about the wrong frequency going in different speakers.

Most 5 X 7 aren't component speakers which means you will hear the high, mid, and low sounds in them.

Your HU will send the signals to both your subs and speakers.. The only way you'd block the lows from coming through your door speakers is with bass blockers.

I'd go into more detail about them, but it sounds like you're wanting to keep the bass hitting from the doors AND the subs, no problem.

The frequencies won't negate eachother just because they're going to different sources, the subs will just pick up where the speakers leave off. Hope that answered your question.

is this a stock stereo we are talking about, or aftermarket or a combination?

It's an aftermarket system w/ Infinity 5752cf's and JVC HU

The speakers will continue to play the same frequencies they are right now. The subs will play some of the same frequencies your speakers play, but it will play them louder and more distinct. The subs will also play frequencies lower than your 5x7s can play.

If you are considering getting some, then just do it. Even if you don't play heavy bass, subs add a lot of fullness to your music.

Thanx!

Thanx Everyone I just purchased 2 10" Infinity Subs today!:D
