I'm looking at a build up using the 5.0 and 4R70W and want a beefy, manual T-case. Not much aftermarket stuff is available for the BW cases, so what other cases can bolt up without having to pay mucho $$ for adapters. 208, 205??? What are the options?

Beefy, manual t-case to bolt to that tranny without adapters = one choice...

Atlas 2

Without adapters nothing else will fit. I don't even know of any adapters to bolt a different case to that tranny.

Your other option is a divorced t-case setup but that would require a 2wd tranny or the possible removal of the fuel tank in swap for a fuel cell as well as custom driveshafts and crossmembers. Even then, the NP205 has a crummy 1.98:1 low-range ratio and weighs a lot.

Stock t-case, Atlas 2, or divorced are your options.

Actually,

Any tcase that used a 31 spline output and 6 bolt pattern will mate to the 4r70w. You have to remember that this is the same tranny as any fullsize truck.

So you have a lot of options. NP 205, BW 1356, BW 1345, AtlasII. No need for expensive adapters!

For example, I'm using a 96 5.0 / 4r70w in my 68 Bronco mated to a manual shift BW 1356 from a 00 F150. The tcase I got was a brand new ford blem reject. However, any 1356 tcase with a 31 spline output and 6 bolt pattern will mate.

Brett - the F150 BW1356 will bolt on, but from what I hear will still be too big for the X frame and fuel tank.

AA makes a kit for the AOD that can adapt the 4r70w to the BW1350/4 series cases that rangers use.

What about Bronco cases like the Dana 300 and 20?
