Tail light question

I need to replace my tail light on my 97 explorer sport 2 door, are all model tail lights the same within the same year? can I use the ones off another model or are the ones on the sport different?

I know that some of the earlier years the tail lights were a three way light while mine is not. Three way has an amber turn signal section. Other than that you should be ok. They are easy to pull out so depending where you are going to look for one have a look. If from a wrecker pull it out and take it in with you to compare.
