Tailgate striker bolt

Hello all,

I just bought a '93 (back on the forum after a three year absence...used to own a '96 XLT), and I just noticed that my right striker bolt is missing on my tailgate. It seems they are readily available for the doors, but I can't find them for the tailgate at my local stores (the tailgate ones don't have the extra metal frame that the door strikers do). Does anyone know where I can find them? Also, should there be a nut on the other side? I just have a gaping hole. I'm wondering how exactly I'm going install the striker with no retaining nut there...

Thanks! Any idea about the install? How can I gain access to the nut on the backside?

For that you are going to have to try and access it by removing the tail light. But most likely you will have to remove the interior trim panel on that side to reach it. If the nut is completely missing you can just stop by any junk yard and grab one. And about the extra metal piece for the door striker all of the ones i have seen you can remove the metal piece.

I believe the striker bolts off older pickups doors are the same as the tailgate striker bolts. you should find them in the help section at the AP store.
