I'm looking at adding a heater to the cooling system for cold weather trips. The options I'm considering are the tank heater(in-line w/ heater hose) or the block heater(replacement of a soft plug).
Most of the search info seems of be about the block heater, it looks like a lot of work in tight spaces.
I used the tank heaters when I lived in Colo. and they worked great and they're easy to install.

Anyone have any experience w/ tank heaters on '92 XLT?

Anyone tried both the tank and block heaters? Opinions?

if your ex didnt come with a factory heater (mine did i dont know cause its a canadian truck or not)it would be much easier to install a inline. you wont have to drain all the anifreeze below the frost plug line an try an get in tere to remove a frost plug.

My experience is this.
I installed one of these over 2 years ago in my 1993 EX. It was an easy job I did it in under an hour. They are are good things to install and if you even have to junk your vehicle you can pull it off in a few minutes and install it on your next vehicle. As far as mine was concerned it worked a few times then when I actually needed to use it it was shorted out. Sadly I had thrown out the recipt so it just sits in my explorer now.

I had bought the red heater from advanced auto parts.
