Hello I have a 92 Ford Exporer Auto trans with the push botton to operate the transfer case. I am currently stuck in 4 wheel drive low range and can't get out. I have been pushing the damn bottons many times to no avail.

IS there a easy fix temp fix (like bang the tansfer with a hammer to get the damn thing to work) until I get the exlporer to the shop

Thanks

Dont bang just tap on it.:hammer:

nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah etc. (Caddy Shack), "just tap it"

If you have seen the movie, that might make since. Honestly, just tap it.

Your truck is telling you that its not done 4wheeling. She wants some more. Climb a few mountains and then see what happens.

Dont we all wish it was that easy.:p

Try disconnecting the battery for a while to reset the computer if you haven't fixed it yet.

It sounds like its your autolocking hubs. It would be worthwhile to invest in some manual locking hubs.

have someone sit in it with foot on break and in nuetral, and pushing the 4x4 button, while you are under tapping on the side of the little round shifter motor, dont hit it too hard or it wont work like mine he he.

This may sound trivial but have you tried it with the engine on, gear in neutral, and then press the low range button?

That is the only way to activate and deactivate if everything is supposed to work as designed.
