My 2020 Ford Explorer FADA failed at 81k miles outside my warranty, however my viginia dealer advertises lifetime warranty (TB4L) on Engine, Transmission and drivetrain. Is the FADA part of the drivetrain? Can they resonably weasel out of covering this item if I have done all of my maintenance at this dealer. (I have also bought 3 cars from from the dealership in the past 4 years)

So sad that Ford won't cover a known problem. So many loopholes with warranties, TSBs etc. I don't think the axle disconnect would be in any of the categories you mention. :(

I've never heard of a dealership offering a lifetime warranty on the engine, transmission, etc. Do you have that in writing with your purchase documents?

Mine has an Engine Guarantee not sure what it means though or for how long. I purchased this but they lied about the service loaners. It's only for paid maintenance services of 200 or higher, not for warranty repairs. So I had to argue with them to get a loaner for my numerous powertrain repairs. Since 2 years ago, I have an ESP with loaner included but have yet to use that warranty. All my repairs were under 5 year/60K powertrain warranty. I have free oil changes and tire rotations for 7 years and car wash every time.

It is definitely part of the drivetrain.

Thx for the reply-This Northern Virginia Dealer warranty has some caveats (up to 100k; must do service work at the dealer) but its publically listed; website link below; Of course the devils is in the details. but at its face it seems like it should be covered and I requested coverage hopefully they live up to expecations else they will be getting an earfull
Warranty language on website
"Included on select New & Pre-Owned Vehicles with less than 100,000 miles is Ted Britt 4 Life*! Ted Britt 4 Life, or TB4L for short, is a complimentary lifetime vehicle coverage, and only available to Ted Britt customers. In order to get and maintain this coverage, you must service your vehicle at any Ted Britt location every six (6) months or 7,500 miles. Exclusions apply, see your local Ted Britt dealer for details."

"Powertrain Coverage

Repair of major powertrain components such as engine, transmission, transfer case, and drive axle."

Finally got some satisfaction; Dealer petitioned Ford to cover 60% of the quoted 4k repair cost and provide a loaner

I'm glad to hear that you don't have to pay full price on that.

Update mid-repair the dealer told me the transfer case needed to be replaced; Should I be releived or should I be calling carmax when I get it back?

I would think the transfercase would be covered under the powertrain warranty. What are they telling you?

My transfer case and rear differential were replaced twice under powertrain warranty. I'm convinced the FADA delete procedure is causing the failure of the transfer case and differential. Lucky for me I still have 20 months left on the extended warranty... I have almost 60K miles now.
