temp gauge question

I got a 180 and my fan will be in tomorrow morning....... It ran 200 -202 with cruise set at 55 , climbed to 208 while in town... 230 when I cut it off while I was in the store but which I know its normal for a engine to heat up once its shut off..I gotta let it cool down AGAIN before I put the new stat in...... on a cooler note , I sure can't complain about my AC.. I stuck a thermometer in the vent when I left home.. I'm getting 39 degrees at the vent on a 100 degree day... I wouldn't think a new one would do much better than that!

Your heater control valve is working well, it keeps the water from going through the heater core.

OK, I'm happy with it now.... I have less of a swing in temps with the 180 stat... Now runs 195 to 198...... I checked the new stat in boiling water and its not exactly a 180.. It didn't open till it got to 186... I'm fixing to check the one I took out and see where it opened.. Its SUPPOSE to be a 195..
