Hi i drive a 03 explorer
and the thermostat on my dash gauge has been way off for a while and was wondering if anyone knew a solution to this? It states it's 140degrees out all the time, once when I was working on my electrical with the battery disconnected it kinda reset and was about 5-10 degrees from the correct temperature but then a few days later it went back to 140degrees.
Any input wiill be appreciated thanks!

Its the sensor, mine did something similar till i replaced it with the dealer part, not cheap if i remember. If you remove the front grill you can get to it easily.

Do you remember the part number? or the name of the piece?
Thank you for the input

opps sorry, i think its called,
Ambient temp sensor
sits on the passenger side of the grill, plastic thing.

I believe the Ambient Temp Sensor is for the HVAC Climate control. Sounds like you need the Coolant Temp Sensor....

I have a question, what is the difference between the 3?
or do I just need to buy the 3rd one since i have a XLT?
Thanks!

It appears they're all the same part number... 1L2A-12A648AA.
Just double check when ordering. These prices were from Rock Auto.

Well what I meant was the part numbers of the 1st and 3rd item are the same but the prices arn't does it matter which one I decide to go with? Also to swap them out should be pretty simple? thx
