Tested my IAC using a multimeter to check the ohms on it. the specs say it should be around 7 -13 ohms. Mine registered 14 ohms. Do you think I ought to change it? The reason I ask is because my truck still spudders when I'm backing out of a parking spot or when I'm turning to pull into a spot.

When the engine is at idle

You should be able to unplug the IAC and the engine will or almost die. I would only expect an electrical problem if the resistance is wildly out of spec. If a spray cleaning doesn't fix it I would look elsewhere for the problem.

It is a 5 second swap on my 97 SOHC and cost $66 delivered from www.fordpartsnetwork.com

It cured my rough idle after the engine was warm issue.

Our Ford parts guy said to whack the thing when it gives you problems. Seriously.. Our buddie's '98 SOHC was having cold start/run problems, and our dealer parts man said to take a hammer to the IAC and it will cure it for a while. I prefer this to any other method in that it is:
A) Cheap (as in no $$)
B) Stress relieving

You sure your dealer wasn't screwing with you friend? If he hadn't had the 00m12 done on his '98, then he better quick before he's past 72K. Dealer charges for the fix after that!

Whats the 00m12? And no he wasn't screwing with us, we popped the hood, and he showed us how to *ahem* "rememdy" the problem with a hammer. And this truck is waay past 72K... something to the tune of 125K
