Hello all,

I have a 96 Explorer XLT with lots of miles > 150K. The transmission has been reworked a couple of times. It has the best heater / air conditioner of any auto I have ever owned.

I joined the forum recently because the fuel pump went out. There was a really great post with photos on your site that really helped a lot.

I am a slow worker and crammed a few hour job into a whole weekend. Finally got the tank emptied and removed and swapped out the fuel pump. Putting the tank back on was much easier than taking it off. The Explorer now runs great.

The key was to get a metal tool to remove the quick disconnect fuel line connectors. Some dirt got into the connector and my first plastic tool just could not do the job. The metal tool with some elbow grease did the job.

Thanks for your site with good trouble shooting advice by your members!

Richard
