The 20$ brushguard(update 8-14-04)

Here it is, the 20$ brushguard. It is a Manik guard. I got it at a local boneyard the guy just wanted it out of his shop. With an arc welder and a "farmers rod"(if you have ever welded you'll know this to be a 6011 rod, it can make a good solid hold in mud rain dirt and rust. good stuff) anyways i dovetailed the guard to fit and made some "L" shaped brackets to mount it. it help up to 470lbs standing on it and it did not budge. it is NOT welded to the frame, just the brackets. This will go to show you that if you find a brushguard not made for your truck and you know how to weld you can save some $$. Special thanks to my roommate mike the engineer/welder.
heres some pics.
all nuts bolts and washers are grade 8.

Thats very.....creative.

Nice job but DAMN that is ugly !!

Lol

Definately.. unique.. but hey, only $20

looks like the contour of an aztek grill guard.....

Is it bent? Do you know what it came off of? Never seen one go up around the lights like that.

Definitely looks bent.. Check out the Manik guard for a Lexus LX450. Looks almost exact to me.

EDIT: http://www.4by4connection.com/manikbars.html .. maybe you could match it up. Now that I look at those pictures, most of the Manik guards look the same.

nah... its not bent, its of a pontiac aztek, or vide, or buick rendezvous or something like that...

I think its a second gen one. Its just tipped really far forward.

They make a brushgaurd for the Vibe?

nope not bent, yes it's kinda far forward. I'm not concerned with that, i can adjust it back about an inch. I just figure so what if it does'nt look perfect, i did'nt pay 500$ for it. I got it for 20$. and i did not put it on for looks i put it on because i live in western NY and the amount of deer crossing the road at night is un believeable. I see at least one deer a night. If this "ugly" thing saves me 1000$ in body damage from hitting a deer it has well served it's purpose. It may look different than what every other explorer has but it is solid as hell. :exporange

Once a deer gets a view of that he'll run the opposite direction for sure. :smoke:

Good job!

For $20 that's awesome! Can't complain with that price.

Better front shots...

Some of you had requested better full front shots, here they are...
