The Ford order/build/deliver timeline.

Hello all.
Soon to be an owner of a 2016 Sport (my very first Ford and domestic vehicle)...
Welcome to the community, 613GT500! :D

My name is Tricia, and I’m the U.S. Ford Customer Service Representative. I’ll be here to assist with any questions or concerns. I can track your order as well! Please PM your VIN or the order number/dealer code. I’ll take a look!

While Ford Customer Service (a/k/a Tricia) is an excellent resource for vehicle status info here, you can't get much beyond your VIN, estimated build date, and estimated time of arrival at your dealer...

Thanks for info. I don't think issue is with the salesperson not wanting to do it but rather they don't know what they have access to and that they can even generate that report...

That's impressive. I have a bit of time as my Explored isn't scheduled to be built until the week of Oct. 19...
Hi everyone,

I’ll be glad to take a peek at your orders! You can also check in with your sales managers to see if they have more detailed information on your vehicles. Either way, I’m here to lend a hand, and put your minds at ease. It can be a long process but you don’t have to go through it alone!

Thanks for your kind words, and enjoy the rest of your day. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome and offer of help Tricia.
I'm actually located in Ontario Canada and forgot to update my profile.
I believe you posted the contact info for Ford's Canadian Rep and I will be PMing them shortly for some help in tracking my build. :)

Has anybody heard about any delays? Just found out from Tricia today that I don't have an ETA yet but my window sticker shows that it was built 8/3/15.

HI, Tricia

I ordered 2016 Ford based AWD on Sep-5th and didn't hear anything from my dealer yet. Can you please help me check the order status? I have sent Fordservice a private message yesterday with the quote ID and Dealer Reg NO. please reply my message or send me an email. Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Lawrence

Mine was built on 9/25 with an ETA of the week of 10/21. Your post makes me think I'll not see mine this month.

Good Luck,

TW

Hi Professorfingers,

Have you been able to reach out to Tricia via PM for an update? If not, send over your dealer code, order number, and VIN (if available). She'll gladly take a look into this.

Freight train arrived!

One week ago, my Explorer Platinum was loaded onto an Autorack railcar near Ford's Chicago Assembly Plant in Hegewisch, IL. This morning, I learned that the railcar arrived at the local freight terminal in Ayer, Massachusetts at 3:35 a.m. That means almost seven days elapsed between loading and arrival.

According to online sources, the distance the railcar traveled was 958 miles. Total time elapsed from departure to arrival was 160 hours, so the average speed of the railcar was 5.99 MPH.

There were several lengthy stops along the way -- most likely to drop off and pick up other railcars -- so I'm sure the train is capable of traveling much faster than 5.99 MPH between stops.

I'd be interested to know if other forum members are experiencing similar rail- travel times in other parts of North America. I'm in the northeast part of the U.S., and my Explorer traveled on a very busy, congested rail corridor, so my Explorer's time-in-transit may not be typical.

That doesn't seem like a very long time. Most likely, the train stops to off load other cars. Likely also train service and changing crews along the way.

Ordered my XLT Aug. 29 and it was received by Ford the next week and processed as a buildable order. It continues to sit waiting to be picked up. My dealer says he had allocation for the order (he could be lying) but we are going on week 5 of it just sitting there. My dealer also said he spoke to Ford and there are no commodity issues either. Not sure if I'm just super impatient or something is actually going on.

Tricia has been a great resource in checking on it weekly and listening to my impatient rants!! :D

My wife is ready to move onto option B which is a Jeep Cherokee put I'm trying to have her wait another week but she is worse than me in the patience department!! lol

Hope everyone is getting good news on their orders!!

You’re welcome, Phinfan. ;)

That’s why I’m here! It is a process for sure but keep checking in with me or your sales manager. Either way, I”ll be happy to let you know the latest updates.

Hello FZ188,

Let me look into this further. Please PM your order number and the dealer code. I’ll take a peek! :)

I hope so.
By the way, when did you place your order and did you receive any updates on the progress?

My dealer told me that he placed my order on Sep-8th, still is no VIN yet. I sent PM to FordService Tricia and she said that she could help me to trace down the car by order number and dealer code. I am trying to contact the dealer to give me the information but I never got a reply after send multiple emails and SMSs. I will try to call him again and see if he can send me above information.

I was expecting to have my car before the Christmas but looks like there is chance Ford will deliver it next year Jan or Feb.

I will keep you guys update once I got the VIN.

My order should have been placed on Sep 23/15 and so far no VIN or new updates on the progress either.
I really hope it doesn't lead into next year, because that will be nearing the 90day delay that dealers have; before we can cancel the order and move on.

If the car couldn't be delivered in the first half of December, I think it will be delayed util end of January due to the Christmas.

Hope for the best.:)

Ordered on aug 12
Built on sept 15
So far I have been given ETA dates to dealership of oct 9 then oct 5 then oct 13.

Then I found out today that it is still at the plant and the ETA to dealership is now showing TBD. Vehicle visibilty report shows awaiting shipment Delay-misc transit delay (Vehicle-ship Llc) as the status.

Salesperson said they have emailed regional rep to see what's up. Vehicle is coming up on one month sitting at the plant built. We are talking about a pretty standard limited explorer.

I am in Texas area. Anyone experiencing any similar delay or has anyone experienced this and can offer some insight? Hope it arrives before end of month or I am screwed out of $750 as my coupon will expire.

*****Found out today that a vehicle made the same day as mine for the same dealership has already been received by them. How does that work. Made the same day for the same dealership and mine is still sitting at the plant?? Also located 4 other explorers that were all built a week after mine and have already been delivered to another dealership right down road from mine.******

My dealer is telling me my order on a 2016 platinum is going to be between 12-24 weeks. Is one of the Ford contacts on this site able to help.

They tell me my order number is R001 (it seems too short)
