Shifter connected to tranny stud.

Take off the shifter boot. The stick is connected to the trans shifter stud (M5OD?) with a pinch bolt. The nut that tightens it faces the front of the van. You gotta take it off. Then if the bolt is still in tight, you got to put on a few washers on the other side so that the nut you just took off can be used to extract the bolt from the stick's pincher. Once you get it out you can see that the bolt has a flat side that has to install flat against the right (flat) side of the shifter stud. Put it back in and tighten the bolt making sure that the flat part of the bolt has full contact with the flat side of the shifter stud. Should be okay then. Move it around while the boot is still off, going through all the gears. If it is still loose or jiggly, your got a problem in the trans.
