okay im bored and i feel like telling all of you what i plan to do with my mounty to add to the small list of mods in my signature.

im out of town right now but right before i left i got my volant intake at my door and put it in, that was very exciting. im coming home in a couple days and here's he 3 things im going to do the moment i get back, i read about them in the under the hood section a couple days ago.

-reduce the slack in my throttle cable.
-adjust my throttle position sensor.

then i've just been thinking i was going to
-create a plexi glass top for my volant intake box so you can see the filter.

now here comes the 2 money things i plan on doing
-order the screamin deamon coil pack
-bamachip <this is where all the mods i've done are really gona come together i think...

i answered my own question about chips and i'll be going with bama chips for sure. the xcalibrator is very expensive so i was wondering if someone has one i could possibly borrow, like have you send it to doug then have him program it then send it to me then i'll send it back to the owner when im done? i'll pay for all the shipping of course. is this even possible? im not trying to rip doug off i just dont have the money... or can i buy a used one for a decent price?

can someone explain to me though, what's the advantage to having 3 programs? what kinds of differences would there be between the 3? can you swich between them somehow?

also, i cant find the friggin' ECU on my 98 merc. mounty. where is it? (picture would help)

well the mounty is comin along strong. i love it to death and its funny thinking about all that i've done to it. i got it for my 18th birthday (kinda) and i havent even had it for a year. hasn't seen a shop yet (except the muffler shop to have a pipe bent when i got the flowmaster) i do all the work my self and im damn proud of it. the money, time, and care i've put into it makes me so proud. when i park it in the garage i just stare at it for a couple minuets and it feels so good. all i have for a lift is the TT and Shackles and the 31's but it just feels so good rolling down the street and hearing the flowmaster roar, the intake suck, and the system bump. the cool thing is i can just be driving down the road and see a trail and pull right off. i think some of you guys know how i feel. it's great.:D

computer passenger side under dash thats my asssumption as thats where mines at. The tps please dude... BE CAREFUL! if you mess it up you'll pay to make it right... I'm 21 with no temper too man hear me.... lol been there. Nobody is going to let u borrow a bamachip just save up n buy it if your really goin for performance. Hows your truck look with 31's and a tt/shackle? I'm doin that when I need new tires and I'm going to get some M/T classics... Another upgrade would be perf plugs and wires... Plat plugs don't get those spitfires they are worthless or bosch. As far as your volant thats a killer idea dude I love it. have you done the highbeam/foglight mod yet thats no power but EXCELLENT light output? You got upgraded bulbs, any kindda system? It would be nice to get a person my age at about my mod stage so we could do some trial and error communication maybe help each other out. I think ultimatly you and I want the same kind of deal

i love the 31's the only thing i dont like is the significantly lower mpg but it's worth it :D you'll have to do the TT on the front end or you'll get the slightest bit of rubbing. the tires improve the look of the truck so much. as far as lights, i have a couple HELLA 500's behind the grille and it looks sweet, i'll get some brighter high beams whenever i come across some and the fog lights... well im thinking of hacking off the lower part of my bumper since im always scraping it but i may not. i also plan on putting some of those cheep 10$ trucker lights as back up lights probably in the middle of the rear bumper where it dips down.

i've got a primer(pioneer) head unit with the IP bus cable that has a headphone/ipod/rca input so i can play music off my ipod, my phone, and i can plug my guitar into the rca input. i've got a 12 in. phoenix gold octane series sub and a 90 watt (yes 90 watts) rockford fosgate punch series amp pushing it. you would not believe how good that hits for 90 watts. over all the system(with stock door spkrs) sounds really clean and bumps really nice.

i need to replace my ball joints really bad i just keep putting it off cuz i know it's gona be a PITA.

i cant wait to get back home to my baby, out here in wyoming i've seen some places i'd love to go off road and it KILLS me inside knowing my truck is back at home all locked up in the garage awating my return. haha yeah well we can deffinatly talk about some mods. i'll be making a thread for my truck soon so we can talk abot it on there i guess, im just waiting till i get home so i can get some good pictures and things.

if you wanna see pictures of my truck just search for aeaglenfitch on car domain and search youtube for a couple videos under the same name.

Thanks what its all about right there. Props to you for doing all your own work, it's a great damn feeling- I can vouch for that as well. Nothing like a long hard days work on the truck, and then stepping back and admiring what you've done. All the blood sweat and tears are worth it. Keep rockin' man. :chug:

The programmers can only be used on one vehicle at a time. To use it on a new vehicle requires removal of the program from the first vehicle, restoring the stock program. I paid just over $125 for the first version of the Xcal, find a used one, the programming is $50, sent in.

The PCM is located under the hood, on the firewall, top.

Do not waste any time on the TPS sensor of an OBDII PCM vehicle, or later. The TPS needs no adjustment, unlike older EECIV PCM vehicles which needed it to be at .990 volts, at idle.

The 95+ model PCM's create a baseline of the TPS voltage upon start up, no matter what that voltage is. The PCM is smart enough to calculate all increases from that baseline. Thus the TPS either works because it is within the accepted large range of voltage, or not because it has failed.

The TPS sensors are not made to be adjusted anyway, I've been around a lot of Mustang guys with drills, hogging out those holes to gain some range of adjustment. Don't do it, no matter what you manage to set it to, the PCM will instantly set its baseline to that, and do calculations from that. Anyone who states that they gained something doing that, didn't. They don't understand how the system works, and they trust their seat of pants more than the facts of how the system works. Just trying to help, save your efforts for something else. Regards,

thanks for the reply abot the tps, i wont do it.

where can i find a used xcaliber2 here's what i was hoping for(but probably cant have) i want 3 programs; one for max power, one for best mpg/regular driving, and one for low end and wheelin'. it would be ideal to have a switch on my dash and i could flip between the three programs. probably not possable though. would the xcaliber have to be plugged into the car at all times (probably resting in the glove box?) to maintain the program? then you can switch between programs with the xcaliber?

The flashers just plug in, swap programs, and you remove the flasher. You cannot swap while driving, it takes a short process each time. The chips can be swapped very quickly between programs, but know that it is almost rare to be able to use them. Most PCM's will not take a chip I've heard. Be patient about the flasher, they have been turning up occasionally this Spring. I got an Xcal I for about $125. Those you have to send in to be programmed, the Xcal II they can email new programs to you. Good luck,

i concur!!!! thats why i love this site!!!:burnout:

I was just skimming through some of the thread and noticed youre going with the screamin demon coils.. I picked up the MSD coils at work and noticed a big difference, and if im not mistaken the MSD was cheaper. I'm another one of those 'budgeted modifiers', so any little bit I can save helps. As far as the intake goes.. i went cheap and just picked up a universal K&N cone filter, a MAF adapter, and had a peice of 3" pipe bent at a local muffler shop. Between the 2 theres a noticeable power/throttle increase. FMS headers and exhaust are next. I've been drivin around with a busted RH manifold for too long.
