Do you plan to just leave it like that without a spare? Also, was replacing the splashguards necessary?

I will be going without a spare for a while. I thought about getting a donut spare from a Taurus, but realistically that wouldn't do me much good in the event that I had a flat. The only way the stock spare will fit is if I deflate it, and if I do that I could carry a small compressor to inflate it if I get a flat, but I'm not sure that's the best solution.

The Limited splashguards are not necessary but it makes the pan look 100% better because they are smooth. I took it a step further by filling in the body line on the splashguards. I'm not sure why they're so expensive, they are only made of an ABS-type plastic. They do come with a 3M stone guard sticker-type thing, and I have a feeling that piece is what makes up for the high cost. Those stone guards are not cheap.

way to go Hartman. although, i could proly do it a little cheaper because i have most of the "extra's and tools" laying around. just gotta have mine towable for the summer. ill also have the added cost and fabrication of doing a hidden hitch w/flip down liscense plate.

Plus what ever you figure you are worth an hour for custom labor!

i pay myself $50 an hour. in all honesty, im worth minimum wage. :p

cant wait to see pics of everything painted!!!

WOW! just got caught up with this thread, that is amazing work hartman! I'm so impressed, looks store bought(thats supposed to sound like a compliment too).

coming in near the end of the thread is awesome cause i didnt have to wait weeks for new pics! cant wait for the finished ones!

I haven't heard anything back from the body shop, so I'm assuming everything went well. I will be picking up the rollpan tomorrow morning and I'll have pics by Tuesday at least.

I've decided not to run license plate bolts with lights in them, but instead I ordered a polished billet alumnium license plate frame with the light built in. It was a little pricey, cost me right around $60 with shipping from Truck Performance but I think it will really set the rollpan off and keep me legal at the same time.

that will look sharp. cant wait for the pics

I have the same billet license plate frame that I got from Summit but without the lights. They are made pretty thick and strong. That thing will last you forever. Overtime they tend to develop some black spots on the surface. A little sanding gets rid of them though.

Did you get the matching bolts with them? It has a flat allen wrench head.

i almost died when i saw that total

It does start to get pricey. All the misc. supplies is what really got me. But, this is a custom piece, and I knew it would take some $$$ to complete.

mine better not cost me nearly that much

It would be a miracle of a body shop could keep their promises. They said they'd be done with it today, now they "might" be done with it by Wednesday.

That's a good way to piss me off.

ouch. when the ford dealer repainted my hood i was worried it wouldnt be done in the time they said.
but low and behold i got it back 2 days later.
they did a good job except now under my hood i have it stripped to the bare metal all around the edges. i dont know what to do about this.

My buddy's F150 hood did the same thing! ^&%#@@$%

At least its not body repair where they add in increments of weeks instead of days.

Hartman- you allways multiply bodyshop time by 3. if they say 2 days, they mean atleast 6 etc.

As long as they do a good job it will be worth the wait. I can't wait to see it.

Do you get that feeling that the longer they hold your truck the more they are trying to perfect their work but in reality it's just there collecting dust in one corner of their shop? Or maybe it's just all me.
