I know, the truck is begging me for a nice, clean set of 20s. Hopefully I can get some wheels within the next few months.

This is the first year with Indiana's website on our license plates. People have been *****ing about it ever since the plate came out. They've even gone as far as selling stickers that say "Back Home Again" that cover the address. That's what it was originally designed to say, but the state decided to put the web address on there instead. I really don't see what's the big deal, it's just a friggin license plate.

I see your point, but still, who wants a web address on their license plate? Its just plain stupid. Never thought about putting a sticker over it...hmmm....you might just have something there!!

I just wanted to say you did a great job!!! it looks great!!! whats next on your list?

Well since I had the rollpan painted, things have not gone without a hitch. I've been having some problems with the rollpan pivoting outward and down. Here's the way I had it mounted:

One grade 8 22MM bolt per side. Because there was only one bolt per side, it allowed the rollpan to pivot even with a nylock nut. I don't know why I didn't realize this before.

I remedied the situation simply by adding another, slightly smaller grade 8 bolt to each side. This should take care of my problems.

So, the mounting consists of a 22MM grade 8 bolt with a nylock nut, with a regular nut on top of that. The secondary bolt is a 19MM grade 8 bolt with a nylock nut.

yes nice fix....if i would have known you only had 1 bolt in each side i would have said something to you.

after my BL i only had 1 bolt in each side of my bumper and it was doing the same thing

Hey hartman, what's underneath the quarter panels, does the panel run all they down to the bottom painted? I'm wondering what it looks like, did you take any pictures without it, im under the impression the bumper needs to be taken out to take the quarter panel off. If not, then I might just take em off my self to see what's under there.

Yeah the quarter panel extends almost all the way down, but it has indentions and holes in it.

you would have to weld a plate over the entire indention area. crappy pic, but you get the idea-

If you fill that hole and smooth out the indentation area, you might be able to do away with the rear quarter panel splash guard, no? It'll look like the ones on the Expedition.

in short, yes. but, there really is no "smoothing out" the indention. basically, you weld a flat piece over all of it and grind it down smooth.

Here's an example of the indentions filled in. Keep in mind that this isn't the best example of good bodywork.

Ah, I see it now, thanks jamest.

Other than holding up the quarter panel, there's no other purpose to that area right?

Nope.

hartman
how do you like the look of the new licence plates, i think they look gay. i'm paying the extra 10 bucks or whatever and getting a truck plate

I really don't mind them. A license plate is not a fashion statement IMO.
