the ol' check oil light

this came on about 2k miles ago and i changed the oil and it went away.. the oil was close to due for a change..so i thought ok i guess it reads the bad oil..now its coming on again..but only about every other time or less i get in the truck..its becoming more and more often..the level is good..but its kinda far from needing a change this time around.. i hav 125k on the truck..anybody kno what this may be trying to tell me?

mine will come on if im a half of a quart low on oil, you might want to check the sensor its on oil pan...
 












Mine comes sometimes during cold winter days, especially if the truck is on an incline, but it always turns out it still reading to the top of the cross hatched area when its back to level. So I'm guessing the cold and the incline has something to do with it, or maybe its the sender...
 






Most likely your sensor if the level itself is ok. Mine has a 1 quart every 3 month leak & lets me know this by coming on.

As the others have posted the oil sensor just reads the level of the oil in the pan. There maybe a problem with the sensor or one of it's wires maybe nicked causing the sensor to come on... If the wires and bottom of your engine are coated with oil then de-greasing them 1st and see if its helps...
