I'm looking to buy a small truck as a dd. I'm not familiar with Ford Rangers. Here is the craigslist link of the Ranger I'm thinking of buying..

http://honolulu.craigslist.org/mau/cto/2300095834.html

I'm somewhat concerned about the 198,000 miles. What should i look out for/ what should be replaced? are rangers reliable? I don't wanna buy a truck and have to put a quart of oil every month.

damn the ad got deleted. but still wanting some answers of questions above

What year and engine was it? Ranger can have one of 3 different engines.

My 93 w/4.0 has over 1/4 million miles and still runs good.

it was a 93 4cyl 2wd.

...I have a 95 2.3L with over 220,000 miles on it...

..I'm a bit biased as I love my Ranger but, we took my Ranger and another member here's 93 Ranger 4.0 with over 300,000 miles on it for a trip thru the Mojave desert, Eastern Sierra's, and then Death Valley a week ago..In fact, there were 4 Rangers on the trip and we believe them to be very reliable..:biggthump

...My personal preference from working on a few of them would be to steer away from the 3.0's and definitely stay away from the Flex Fuel e85 Rangers...

..Not saying all Rangers and previous owners are all equal but I am a fan..

..If you find another one post it in this thread and I'm sure you will get some help on deciding weather to buy it or not..Good luck on your Ranger shopping.:D

Agreed. Go with the 2.3 or the 4.0.
