Thinking of Getting a New Cam

I was wondering if anyone had an aftermarket cam for the 4.0 SOHC and if they had anysuggetions fo me.

Did you do an SOHC swap in your explorer?

If you are referring to the 91 mentioned in your sig line then you have the OHV and we knocked the idea of a cam swap around in this thread http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=48392&highlight=cam

On the other hand if you really are refering to the SOHC then I'm not aware of any aftermarket cams for it.

every time i pop the hood the 4.0 SOHC emblem is staring me in the face. i'm pretty sure thats the way it came. however, i could be wrong, in which case i'll feel like a moron. i was just wondering if i had any options.

Your mind is playing triccks on you- It says 4.0 L- EFI , it is an OverHead Valve engine (OHV) the SOHC engine (says SOHC-4.0L )is a different engine- visually the OHV has one intake tube in the center, the SOHC have two that leave the engine at 90degrees to the centerline, that sort of have a heart shape when they merge into one at the front.

Do a search for the cam plenty of threads on the site about them.

You're right, i am an idiot. 4.0EFI is what it says. so a cam swap isn't an option?

There are several cams for your engine, do a search on here and you will find plenty of threads on it.
