2021 PIU
I successfully swapped the third row from a 2020 Explorer into a 2021 PIU. I had issues with the previous generation when the junkyard didn't get all needed brackets, seatbelts and bolts. I was not sure what I would need and wanted to pull the parts myself. I found the You-Pull yards had older models but I found one place that had a 2020 (unknown trim) Explorer that had a guard rail go in-between the engine and tire and through the firewall and stopping between the front row seats. Unfortunately it was power fold seats.
To do this you can leave some parts out of the list but to make it look stock you will need (some only have one side listed):
Third row backrest
Third row seat
Inner quarter panel trim LB5Z-7831012-FF and LB5Z-7831013-FD
Pillar trim where 3rd row seatbelt is LB5Z-7831010-CB and LB5Z-7831011-CB
Side Panels both sides needed) LB5Z-7831113-AD and LB5Z-7831112-AB
Spare tire
Spare tire stud LB5Z-17091-A
Trunk spare tire cover LB5Z-7845026-CB
Floor Mat (cover that goes above spare tire cover) LB5Z-7813046-AA or LB5Z-7813046-CA
Sill Plate LB5Z-7842624-BE
Panel cover LB5Z-7845522-KD
For Power fold you will also need:
SCMJ that is under the drivers side Second row seats. I bought the whole second row and carpet below it.
The Switch that is in the passenger side inner quarter panel trim.
For wiring you can make your own wires to connect or you will need the body harness from the RCM (under the console), and side to side under the first row seats to the tailgate. You will cut the power cable, but I had to reroute it anyway. I was not sure what to take and so I took the whole thing from the BCMC back. I used the power block on the PIU to power the circuit. As the PIU doesn't have the relay for this in the BCMC. Hands down don't do power fold seats like I did.... Every time I thought I was close to the finish line, I had more work to get the seats working. I also had to relearn the configuration by pressing the L and R fold buttons for a cycle and then doing the same with the L+R button. I currently have to see why the headrest doesn't fold. But that cant be that hard...right?
