This is how to change a window motor only

If the motor itself goes bad it’s pretty easy to change. There are a couple of tricks though that will make it a little easier.
Pull the door panel off. The motor is bolted to the regulator assembly inside the door with 3 bolts. You will need to drill a hole in the steel inner door frame to access one of these. It is already dimpled from the factory in the correct location. See the first picture. Strangely the other 2 are drilled from the factory.

Disconnect the electrical connector below the motor location right below the mounting bolts on the outside.

Remove the speaker and reach through the hole and wiggle the motor loose and pull out through the speaker hole.

The last picture is what the motor looks like and the 3 screws that holds it to the regulator linkage that you will be removing through the outside panel.

There’s already posts about changing out the whole regulator assembly and fixing the wiring etc. Sometimes it’s just a bad motor, like mine. Always grease all the slides and pivot points on the linkage while it’s apart.

The hole which has to be drilled out only needs to be larger than the 8mm socket that you use for the three bolts. Ford has done this for decades, leaving one or more holes undrilled. On the Fox chassis cars, if you drill the bottom hole to match th other two 1/2" holes, the hole is so big you see it under the edge of the door panel. Don't make the hole any larger than necessary.
